Reporting directly to the Director of Capital Management, you'll contribute to the leadership of the Capital Management and Finance Extended Leadership Team. Your role covers all underwriting of the Group and is responsible for the production of catastrophe modelling output; ensuring that catastrophe models reflect the risks to which DLG is exposed.

Join us and become the subject matter expert responsible for communicating and mitigating weather and natural event risks.

  • Lead the technical assessment and development of catastrophe models and weather event models. Take charge of the catastrophe modelling assessment framework and its implementation.
  • Lead the quantification and understanding of climate change on our physical risks.
  • Communicate key assumptions and developments related to catastrophe and weather models across the organisation. Ensure that all key users understand how to apply these models effectively.
  • Provide regular reporting on exposure management and catastrophe risk to support business decision-making. Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure suitability of the reporting.
  • Manage the business-as-usual operation and contribute to the development of various Internal Economic Capital Model components, including catastrophe, catastrophe reinsurance, weather, subsidence, and freeze.
  • Offer recommendations on the appropriate level of catastrophe burn cost assumptions for financial forecasts and pricing models.
  • Take on the people management role, overseeing analysts and contributing to the leadership of the Capital Management and Finance Extended Leadership Team.
  • Ensure compliance with the Internal Model Policy and Minimum Standards, especially regarding external models and data.
  • Analyse liquidity requirements for the Group to inform our asset management approach.
  • Oversee the production of sensitivity scenarios published in the Group's external reporting.

What you'll need:

You'll be experienced in the insurance industry, working in catastrophe modelling and/or exposure management with robust knowledge of RMS RiskLink, AIR CatTrader, JBA, or similar catastrophe models.

You'll need to be an effective people leader, and be able to engage team members through empowerment, coaching, and encouragement.
